Metal Mania!! ~~Graphic 45~~

This weekend I just had to get my SteamPunk on!!  It's been awhile and for being featured on Graphic 45 blog, they kindly sent me some metal pieces and I couldn't wait to use them!!  I tried to keep in kind of monotoned with only 2 colors, but had to have some gold in there too!!   I used a reversed canvas again for this one and painted and misted it like crazy!!  Details are below.  The metal just worked it's magic and created the layout for me!!!  This is an image from Diarment at DeviantART.  Hope you enjoy and are having a wonderful weekend.  Thanks for taking a peek and all you sweet comments, they're truly always in my heart!!!!  Karen

Here's a couple of close-ups and photos of the frame work.  I started by painting the canvas with Americana Acrylic paint (butter).  After that dried I misted it with Glimmer Mist (Jazz Blue), Moon Shadow (Mystic Malachite), and some ColorBox (Chestnut) along with some Dew Drop (Turquoise Gem).  For the gears I used some gold ink and then painted on some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam (Mermaid) and did some stamping with a small Prima stamp.  The chickwire is from House of Scrapbooking and I used the glam on those also!!!   Hope you enjoy, it was fun!!

As many of you may know here at Scraps of Darkness we've had a couple of kits that included Creative Imaginations paper lines.  They were the Sukura and Marrakesh lines.  They really loved the work our Design Team did with their papers that they have had a feature for us!!

Altered Frame ~~Graphic 45~~

This is my very 1st Altered Project and I had fun with it.  It was such a fragile frame as it is made out of really old wood, so I had to be really careful.  I used a 2-step crackle from Michael's to give it an even more distressed look!!  After that dried, I applied some Tim holtz Distress Inks and rubbed them in a circular motion in a few areas for a little color.  The image I found online, sorry I can't remember right now.  As many of you know, I love Graphic 45 and used their "The Magic of Oz" Collection.  I backed the photo with some G45 paper and did a lot of fussy cutting to add the touches of Graphic 45 around the doors of the frame.  I'm going to have this in my kitchen this Halloween with some other decorations around it, can't wait!!!  Thanks so much for taking a peek, and I hope you enjoy it!!!  Karen

Here's a couple of close-ups of the altered frame above.  I used 2 applications of some crackle paint and let that dry, then inked in areas with some Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  The rest was just some fussy cutting with the Graphic 45 Oz collection.  This was a fun project!!

It's Reveal Day at Scraps of Darkness July's Kit

This month's kit here at Scraps of Darkness is called "Marrakesh Express".  It's beautiful and full of gem colored papers by Christine Adolph through Creative Imaginations.  The add-ons are full of beautiful Prima with stencils and canvas mediums to use, so fun!!!  Mandy "CraftySprinkles" made us a beautiful stick pin to match the kit and "Suepup" made a beautiful sketch for our challenge.  Get on over to Scraps of Darkness to get your kit before they fly out the door!!!

Marrakesh Express Sketch Challenge

This is my take on our July Sketch by "Suepup".   This month's kit at Scraps of Darkness is called The Marrakesh Express and Mel has put together another beautiful kit!!  This month features some very pretty and colorful papers by Christine Adolph through Creative Imaginations.  The kit and add-ons are just beautiful jewel colors and tons of Prima flowers!!!

This is a photo of my hubby back in 1988 when he was sailing with some friends.  They sailed in Austrarlia and then on to Bali.  That's him on the left in his sarong on the sailboat.  I used the beautiful Lumnarte shimmering watercolors to alter the chipboard and Dusty Attic border.  For the bordering circles I used the Shimmerz  Paint (Mama Sings the Blues and Mon Shari) to mist the orange papers.  The Prima Flowers ( Shalimar Col Amia) I used on the border.  I also used the beautiful jewel pieces from Prima (Candy Gems Jelly Bean) included in the kit.  I can't remember where I got the chipboard from, sorry but I used the Lumnarte shimmer paints on those too.   The stones that are scattered around the layout are some gorgeous opals that my hubby picked up on his travels while sailing and I thought they were a nice touch!  After he showed them to me and let me use them I found them in my jewelry box!!  He's the best!!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!!!

The Third Sea ~~Scraps Of Darkness~~

This is another layout using our July kit at Scraps Of Darkness called The Marrakesh Express.  It's full of beautiful papers by Christine Adolph through Creative Imaginations.  This kit just gorgeous!!  This is another photo of my husband while he was sailing with his friend Harold Stephens and his 71 ft. twin masted schooner called The Third Sea.  You can go online and read about it.  I love the jewel colors and this one had some blues that I brought out with this layout.  The butterflies came from Renea (Reneabouquets)  that she got online for us to compliment the kit!!  Thanks so much for stopping by and I really hope you enjoy!!  Happy Scrapping!!
